The USF Center for Biological Defense is a part of the National Center for Countermeasures to Biological and Chemical Threats. Our NCCBCT sister institutions include units within the University of Texas, Austin and the Texas Tech University in Lubbock.

We are a joint venture between the Florida Department of Health and the USF College of Public Health, a unit of the USF Health Sciences Center.

The University of South Florida Center for Biological Defense (USF CBD) is a Florida State University System (SUS)-wide project. This approach has increased collaboration among universities and diversified biodefense research activities. In the Spring of each year the USF CBD releases a request for applications (RFA). This RFA has generated over 20 projects funded across 8 universities within the Florida SUS – these funded projects make up the Florida Biodefense Research Consortium. All Florida SUS institutions are eligible to become a part of the FBRC.
